Jackson Creek

Between Lemon Island and Rose Island is a small creek that winds its way from the Broad River to Hwy 170. We recorded a plat at the Beaufort County Courthouse and named this body of water "Jackson Creek".

Singleton Beach, Hilton Head Island

I rode the waves at Singleton Beach in the late 70's as David hit Savannah. The waves were 10 feet and smooth as glass. My Dad owned an old two-story house on the beach and we would hang-out. The house was rustic and weathered. I wish we still had it. Singleton is on the of the few places on Hilton Head where you can enjoy the ocean and a creek.

From The Soft Shell Crab Room

The Lemon Island Marina lives only in memory. I'll never forget Red and Clark.

Sunday Morning Fog

The last two Sunday mornings have been thick fog. With church waiting, I could not take pictures. I snapped this one at 7:30 am last week on my way to church. Fishermen have hundreds of miles of salt water rivers, but they all seem to drop anchor at my dock.

December in The Lowcountry

The Old Sheldon Church is on a sandy hill, so it is rare to catch it under fog. I wish I lived next door and could keep watch over it. I'm about twenty minutes away. Most of the time when I have fog at home on the Chechessee River, their is no fog by the time I make it to Sheldon. I was happy to find some today.

Sacred Ground

This old church has been destroyed twice by war criminals. Recently, vandals broke the head stones marking several grave sites. I pray for their souls. The Old Sheldon Church is just east of Yemassee, South Carolina.

The American Dream

On the weekends, for the past 18 years, I have worked on this dock. A local dock builder told me he would not help me finish it because some might think he did all the work and it would reflect on his good reputation. That was all I needed to hear to finish it myself. It is one of my favorite places on earth.

Chechessee River at Lemon Island, South Carolina

I got up early and drove to the far end of Lemon Island to get take some pictures of the clouds and the marsh. I climbed my favorite oak tree and looked out over the marsh. The sun never hit the clouds the way I wanted. Just as I pulled into my driveway on the south end of Lemon Island, I noticed the sun was cooperating. So, after an hour down the road, I took this one in my side yard.
